Irish Death Records
Civil registration of all births, marriages and deaths only started in Ireland in 1864. At the beginning, not all events were registered as was required. To help us perform a five year search of the records, we need the following information - Surname, Forename, Townland/County and approximate year of death.

When the search is successful, the photocopy/certificate of the record will show the Date and Place of Death, Name, Sex, Age and the Name of the Informant.
Genealogy Tip: When you have the death record, it will sometimes state the marital status of the deceased. If they were a widow or widower, you know that their spouse died before them. You can now search for the spouses death record. If they were married, you can search for their marriage record.
Genealogy Tip: If you are unsure of the spelling of a townland, or you want to know where the townland is, use the Irish Placename Search facility.
